Safe Merging for
Concurrent Shoebox/Toolbox databases

This should be on a JAARS PC Software Library CD available now, but you can also download it here quickly. Read through the step-by-step user's guide, to find out what it's all about and how ShoeShop might help you manage revisions to Toolbox databases.

Installation:

	Mac OS X		Windows or Linux
	Download the ShoeShop files Unzip them (although this has probably already been done by Safari if you used that) and put them somewhere useful. Read the enclosed Guide.   Modify the ShoeShop Font Setup File   Double-click ShoeShopClasses.jar, identify your files, and get going! I enclose several sample .db shoebox database files for you to play with if you want.		Ensure you have Java installed: Type java at a command line If it says 'command not recognised' or if in doubt, download and install the latest Java Runtime Engine Or let Sun's website check if you have Java. Download the ShoeShop files Unzip them and put them somewhere useful. The program is very far from perfect, but it seems to be functional and it was useful for us. I might well come back to it and try to improve it now there's been some other interest in it, so comments are welcome, but I can't promise anything. Thanks for your encouragement!

Limitations and problems

Managing fonts is annoying: would be nicer if ShoeShop read the font information out of the Language Encoding files.
