Headline: Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology

January 24th, 2011

Over the past several months, the NEGST Letter has been introducing you to the schools that make up Africa International University (AIU). We looked at the vision of AIU and at two of its three schools: the Insitutute for the Study of African Realities, and the newly-formed School of Professional Studies. This issue focuses on the third school of AIU, and the one you may know best: Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology.

NEGST is founded on the Bible and its revelation of Jesus Christ. The institution came into being through the vision of the late Dr. Byang Kato of Nigeria, who was at the time the first African General Secretary of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa and Madagascar.

Kato was deeply concerned because, at the time, the Evangelical churches in Africa had seen little need to provide training for their pastors beyond the certificate or diploma level. He spoke often of what he saw as a coming crisis of ‘Christopaganism’ in African Christianity and was convinced of the need for African Biblical Theologians with Advanced training who would help leadership in combating this trend.

December 21st, 2010

“That I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever!” These words of the Psalmist capture the deep sense of gratitude that I have for the Lord’s great hand of provision in a year that has been laced with extreme difficulties.  As we struggled every month to meet our financial obligations the Lord was mercifully opening new doors of opportunity.

I am grateful to all our partners and friends who have supported us throughout the year. I give thanks to our student body and staff Read the full story »

Headline: Introducing the School of Professional Studies at Africa International University

December 7th, 2010

The School of Professional Studies is one of the three schools that make up Africa International University, along with the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology and the Institute for the Study of African Realities. Established to serve the African professional community in fostering the integration of academics, faith and professionalism, the school bridges the gap between classical courses and the needs of society. The school brings acceptable professions under the authority of Christ in celebrating his Lordship in all domains of the life of the Christian. On the cutting edge of technology, professionalism, and contextual relevance, the school of professional studies is different from other schools in the following ways:

  • The school receives its mandate foremost from the Church—God’s principally ordained institution to bring transformation. This mandate comes through the Church in Africa represented by the Association of Evangelicals in Africa. We also receive our mandate from the Commission of Higher Education, the Accrediting Council for Theological Education in Africa and several others. This means your degree will be recognized anywhere you take it.
  • Our courses are designed and taught by academically qualified professionals, entrepreneurs, employers and Read the full story »
