On Saturday January 21st, 2012, Africa International University’s (AIU) ladies fellowship had their day out together. They went to Nairobi Safari Walk located 7km south of Nairobi city. It is Kenya’s new conservation based recreational facility that renders supremacy in tourism and conservation education. Activities at Safari Walk include: Guides walk, talks and lectures, tree identification and nursery techniques.
Later in the day, the ladies had a wonderful lunch and more bonding session in Ongata Rongai at Mrs. Mary Omollo’s house. There was a moment of worship and devotion.
It is tradition for ladies fellowship to have a day away from usual activities planned for academic year. Usually, they do visit other women’s projects, children’s homes or orphanages. Read the full story »

Andrew Walls is a Professor of the History of Missions, Liverpool Hope University, England; Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh, founder and former director of the Centre for the Study of Christianity in the Non-Western World; and an International Bulletin of Missions Research (IBMR) contributing editor.
Since 1997 Professor walls has had world wide ministry holding distinguised positions at many schools including Princeton theological seminary and Harvard Divinity school. His various essays on christianity and culture have been collected into two award winning volumes, with a third on its way to the press. His core commitments have been to Hope Liverpool university and the Akrofi Christaller Memorial Centre in Ghana founded by the late Kwame Bediako.

Africa International University is pleased to announce the installation of the new Chancellor, Professor Watson Omulokoli. He was installed as the new Chancellor during the award of the Charter that took place on 4th March, 2011. The Chancellor was appointed on 1st September, 2010.
Prof. Omulokoli was born on 16th August, 1942, and ordained as a clergyman in 1986. He is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, with a PhD in Church History; Wheaton Graduate School, Wheaton, Illinois, USA., with an M.A. in Church History; and Warner Pacific College, Portland, Oregon, USA., with a BTh in Biblical Studies, and a B.A. in Theology. His long history and association with AIU goes back to the early years of the institution when he was one of the first African scholars to teach in a part-time capacity at the school. On 17th January 2011, a chapel service was held for the ground-breaking ceremony for the Leah Ngini community center at Africa International University. The ground-breaking ceremony was held to honor the 12 business women from Canada who are climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro as part of the fund-raising for the community centre.

One hundred and thirty-five new students, representing 18 nationalities, came to learn under our able faculty, in preparation for partnering with God in His mission to the world. The breakdown of the students according to their programs are as follows: 10 students in the Diploma in Christian Ministries, 36 students in the BA Theology, 11 students in the BA Psychology and Counseling, 44 Master of Arts students, 6 Master of Divinity students, 12 Master of Theology and Philosophy students, 12 Doctor of Philosophy students and 4 Special Students.

On 8th September 2010, the staff members of NEGST held a farewell tea for Ms. Jane Wanjiku. Jane Wanjiku faithfully served in the NEGST library since September 2005. She served NEGST with dedication and distinction for five years. She was described as committed to the Lord, humble, hardworking, jovial and rich in smile.
Jane said that she was thankful and humbled by everyone who attended the farewell tea. In her farewell remarks she said that she had grown professionally and spiritually, and that she will continue to pray for NEGST. Before coming to NEGST, Jane worked at Daystar University. Jane will be transitioning to St. Paul’s University. Let us pray that God’s constant presence might abide with her.

On 12th August 2010,the admissions office held a farewell party for Pastor Aquinas Anogoli at the Christian Learning Ministries Centre boardroom.
Aquinas,a NEGST alumni,led the Jitokeze initiative to recruit students to NEGST,because of his desire to be part of Africa International University as it became a reality.
He organized appointments with pastors and set dates for Jitokeze team visits. Through his efforts,every Sunday during the initiative, NEGST was able to publicize at different venues.The response to the Jitokeze initiative has been overwhelming so far.

NEGST celebrates our twenty-fifth graduation ceremony on July 10th at the Karen campus. The ceremony kicked off with the procession of the academic deans, the board of trustees, governing council and the graduating students.
The graduation theme, “Ministry in our days: its challenges, opportunities and privileges” was given by guest speaker Rev. Dr. Robert K. Lang’ at, university provost and senior pastor at Kabarak University.
Seventy four students graduated from the many departments. After the conferment of degrees and awards, many of the students held parties across campus to celebrate their achievements. Congratulations to the twenty-fifth graduating class!

NEGST held an open day on Saturday, 5th June 2010, an opportunity to market ourselves to the community and to potential students. Each department displayed its offerings to these potentials, including high school students interested in future undergraduate programmes.
The event was a massive success, and was part of an on-going recruitment effort that includes the entire community. We would like to extend our appreciation to everyone who volunteered to give campus tours, to the many volunteers who displayed the various departments in the chapel, and to the whole of the NEGST community for their prayers and help.

The women’s fellowship, held in chapel on 19th May was led by guest speaker Mrs. Linda Wiley, a nutritionist. Congolese and Rwandese sisters entertained the women and showcased their culture as they hosted.
Nutrition is the study of how people consume nutrients in food. Linda talked about what we should eat and in which proportions. Linda also offered a rundown of the benefits of a good diet, which include sustaining a desirable weight and alleviating chronic diseases. She also spoke about preventing obesity in children and safety in food preparation.
The next fellowship will be on 16th June 2010.
