The first ever graduation ceremony as Africa International University was held on 9th July, 2011. The theme of the graduation was “Celebrating God’s favor”. The ceremony started at 10.30 am with a procession lead by the Pistis Christian School.
The guest speaker was Dr. Modupe Talylor-Pearce. He was the first African principal of NEGST, he served from 1986-1993. During is past visit in 2009, he said, “When I came, NEGST looked like a farm. I had big dreams for NEGST and I am now looking at a dream come true.”
This day went down in history as a day that witnessed events that were first of a kind because it was the first official function and address by the university’s new chancellor Prof. Watson Omulokoli since he was robed as chancellor at the award of charter ceremony.
This day also saw thirty one one men and women be the first people to graduate from a undergraduate program from AIU, and they were also the first students to graduate with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Theology. In 2005 the first PhD cohort was initiated. Students came from six African countries and one from USA. Four of these students graduated this year with PhD in Translation and Biblical studies. It was also the first time to graduate a student from Master of Theology (World Christianity).
Indeed its a season to celebrate God’s favor, and to the first graduation class of Africa International University, we say a hearty congratulations and as they go into the world to serve with diligence and integrity, we wish them Gods favor and blessings.

Thank you for this thrilling report of the Graduation Ceremony, and especially for the presence of Dr Modupe Taylor-Pearce who was indeed the first African to head the School at a time when I had the privilege to serve on the Board. It was a period of tremendous growth through serious difficulties as chicken coop bugalows were transformed into a world-standard campus of which we are justly proud. May God grant that NEGST will grow from strength to strength under its new leadership
